SOME OF THE EARLIEST MARRIAGES THAT UNITED THE LETT SETTLEMENT FAMILIES.

The Lett Settlement was a self sustaining community of mixed race people, with the Lett, Caliman and Guy families forming ties with each other through marriages and common backgrounds while living in Maryland and Virginia and continuing with similar connections to other families after settling in Ohio. - Charles J. LETT - STEVENS:

Elizabeth "Betsey" Lett, a daughter of Aquilla Lett, Sr. and Christina Cobbler Lett married Michael Stephenson on Thursday, November 14th, 1805 in Frederick County, Virginia. The Stephenson surname later became Stevens.

LETT - CALIMAN:

Benjamin Lett, a son of Samuel and Jemima Banneker Lett and Mary "Polly" Caliman, daughter of Moses and Henrietta Perrill (Pearl) Caliman, were married on Thursday, January 5th, 1809 in Frederick County, Virginia.

LETT - CUMMINS:

Susanna "Susan" Lett, a daughter of Aquilla Lett, Sr. and Christina Cobbler Lett, married John Cummins on November 25th, 1818 in Harrison County, Ohio.

LETT - BEARD:

Abraham Lett, a son of Aquilla Lett, Sr. and Christina Cobbler Lett, married Eleanor Beard on February 2nd, 1821 in Harrison County, Ohio.

LETT - SIMPSON:

Jemima Lett, the daughter of Meshach and Rosanna Cummins Lett, married Turner Simpson on March 24th, 1824 in Guernsey County, Ohio.

GUY - BROWN:

Lydia Guy, a daughter of James A. Guy, Sr. and Deborah Ridgley Guy, married Charles M. Brown on December 30th, 1824 in Morgan County, Ohio.

 

LETT - SWEENEY:

Mary "Polly" Lett, a daughter of Aquilla Lett Sr., and Christina Cobbler Lett, and Nathaniel Sweeney, a son of Lucretia Sweeney, were married on January 26th, 1826 in Guernsey County , Ohio.

GUY - CALILMAN:

Lloyd Elsworth Guy, a son of James A. Guy Sr. and Deborah Ridgley Guy, and Margaret E. Caliman, a daughter of Moses and Henrietta Perrill (Pearl) Caliman, were married on March 16th, 1826 in Harrison County Ohio.

LETT - GUY:

Solomon Lett, a son of Benjamin and Mary "Polly" Caliman Lett, and Henrietta Guy, a daughter of James A. Guy Sr. and Deborah Ridgely Guy, were married on January 12th, 1833 in Morgan County Ohio.

STEVENS - NORMAN:

Mary Stevens, a daughter of Michael and Elizabeth "Betsey" Lett Stevens, and George Norman, son of Grandison Norman Sr. and Ann Combs Norman, were married on May 21st, 1833 in Muskingum County, Ohio.

LETT - LETT:

William Lett, a son of Aquilla Lett Sr. and Christina Cobbler Lett, and Mary Lett, a daughter of Samuel and Ester Beard Lett, were married on August 13th, 1835 in Muskingum County, Ohio. (William and Mary Lett were first cousins.)

GUY - POINTER:

Allen Guy, a son of James A. Guy Sr. and Deborah Ridgley Guy, married Nancy Pointer on November 29th, 1838 in Muskingum County, Ohio.

GUY - HARPER:

William Guy, a son of James A. Guy, Sr., and Deborah Ridgeley Guy and Frances Harper, a daughter of William D. and Jane Harper, were married on November 29th, 1838 in Muskingum County , Ohio.

LETT - TATE:

Margaret Lett, a daughter of Aquilla Lett Jr. and Elizabeth Beard Lett, married Joseph Tate on December 18th, 1850 in Muskingum County, Ohio.
